Connecting and Using the Township VPN
You will log in to the laptop using your current Township username and password.
MS Office 2019 is installed on the laptop. Therefore, you do not need to be connected to WiFi or wired internet in order to use those applications.
Once connected to Wifi or via wired internet, you can gain access to Remote Desktop Services at the Township.
Once you are at the desktop, click the ^ in the lower right-hand corner by the date/time. This will open a window for the hidden icons of applications running in the background.
The grey globe icon is for connecting to the Township VPN. You will click the grey globe and you will see a connect window open up.
The portal address is vpn.bloomfieldtwp.org. That address should stay in the portal window unless someone changes it. Click the Connect button.
This will open the Global Connect SignIn window.
Type your Township email address in the box and click Next.
Then you will be asked for your login password. This is the same password you used to sign into the laptop.
You will then be prompted for Duo authentication. Once Duo authentication is complete, the grey globe will turn to a blue globe.
If you click on the blue globe a window will pop up saying that you are connected.
Once you are connected to the VPN, you will be able to use the shortcuts on the desktop labeled departments (btfs2). If you double click that shortcut, you will have live access to the S: drive (Departments) at the Township. The same applies to the shortcut for your U: drive Username (btfs).
When connected to the VPN, if you open the blue globe Connected Window, you can click the Disconnect button to disconnect the VPN. Also keep in mind that the VPN does have a built-in timer for non-activity across the connection. The timer is approximately 30 minutes. If the VPN does not detect any activity for 30 minutes, it will disconnect automatically.
