Summary – Employee Cell Phone Usage Policy
Purpose & Scope
Township-issued cell phones are provided for work-related communication and field access.
Limited personal use is allowed, provided it does not interfere with job duties or violate policy.
Key Rules
Personal Use & Data Responsibility
The Township is not responsible for personal data (photos, contacts, texts, apps) stored on Township devices.
Employees must back up their own personal data.
No reimbursement for personal data loss from repair, replacement, or technical issues.
International travel: Employees must request IT to add an international plan before departure and remove it upon return.
Lost or Stolen Devices
Must be reported within 1 hour to both the supervisor and IT.
Enables IT to secure Township data quickly.
Failure to report promptly may result in disciplinary action.
Device Security & Usage
Employees must follow IT’s password, lock, and security guidelines.
Unauthorized apps or software that could compromise device security are prohibited.
Return of Devices
Upon termination or at Township request, employees must return the phone and accessories in good condition.
Devices will be wiped of all data (including personal) upon return.
Compliance
Employees must acknowledge receipt of the policy.
Violations may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
